How long have you worked at Multicultural Hub, and what is your role?
I have been working for GMC for 2 years as casual support worker.
What do you like about working with the Multicultural Community?
I enjoy working with the multicultural community because I can meet new people from different backgrounds and learn about other cultures and languages.
What are some of the things you do in your role?
In my role, I assist with coordinating referral and support services for clients and their families (migrants and refugees), and ensure the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities are able to access local services. I also assist the manager with data entry, activities such as school holiday programs, women’s group, and with GMC events. Among them are Goulburn Multicultural Festival, Harmony Day in the park, and End of Year fashion parade.
What’s something people might not know about you?
I am a hard worker, highly motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and have a resilient attitude with a growth mindset. I am capable of building a good rapport and relationship with colleagues and the community. And I always respond positively to challenges.
What would you say to a community member who might be thinking about connecting with a service at Multicultural Hub Canberra?
GMC is the right organization to go to as we have good understanding of migrant settlement issues, provide client-centred case management, and can work effectively in providing advice and referral whether you need accommodation, employment, education, finance, welfare, family, health, emotional support, skill development, or even just to meet new friends.
